Matric Vault is committed to protecting your privacy. We are fully compliant with the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) in South Africa. We believe that your study data belongs to you.

What We Collect

• Account Data: Email address and Google sign-in identifier (collected only when you choose to sign in).
• Usage Data: Anonymized data regarding paper downloads, AI Tutor frequency, and general app interactions to help us optimize the experience.
• AI History & Snapshots: Your questions, AI responses, and page snapshots are stored only on your device by default.
• No personal identifiers are stored in our cloud database unless you explicitly opt-in to cloud backup features.

Third-Party Services

To sustain our services and provide advanced AI features, we use the following third-party providers who may collect data used to identify you:

• Google Play Services: Required for core Android functionality.
• Google AdMob: Used to serve advertisements. AdMob may use advertising identifiers (like the Android Advertising ID) to show relevant ads.
• Google Firebase: Used for crash analytics, app stability monitoring, and secure storage (if opted-in).

How We Use Your Data

We use your data only to:

• Provide and improve the app experience
• Show relevant ads in the free version (via AdMob)
• Manage AI Tutor usage quotas
• Offer customer support

We never sell your personal data to third parties.

Children's Privacy

Matric Vault is intended for students preparing for Grade 12. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13. If you are under 18, we recommend using this app under the supervision of a parent or guardian.

Data Storage & Security

All personal and study data is stored securely:

• Local device storage is encrypted via standard OS protocols.
• Cloud data (if you opt-in) uses Firebase with industry-standard AES encryption.
• Data Deletion: You can delete all your data at any time within the app via Settings → Privacy → Delete All Data.

Your Rights (POPIA)

Under South African law, you have the right to:

• Access the data we hold about you
• Request the deletion or correction of your data
• Opt-out of cloud processing at any time
• Request an export of your study data
